Alien Camera

The Villa “Le Lac”, which Le Corbusier designed and built for his parents in 1923, is an invitation to perceive space in terms of framing. With the Alien Camera installation, the “machine for living” becomes “machine for looking”. A series of camera-objects inhabit the spaces of the Villa and offer previously unseen glimpses of the house through the prism of machines whose biomorphic forms fluctuate between modernist abstract sculpture, space probes and video surveillance cameras.   For this installation, Pascal Dufaux took his inspiration from the images of the Mars Explorer Mission (2004) broadcast in nearly real time by the NASA robots.
